Tottenham vs Chelsea : An Outrageous game in the History of Premier League

Fig: A scenario from last night's match of Tottenham vs Chelsea

On 6th November Monday night, Tottenham and Chelsea played one of the craziest matches in the history of the Premier League.

The Blues, led by Mauricio Pochettino won three points on their return to Tottenham as they came back from behind to win the game by 4-1 in North London. This doesn't tell all the craziness that happened in the match which includes no less than 10 cards dished out and the host team reduced to nine men.

The home team made a quick start by scoring a goal in the 5th minute of the game through a deflected Dejan Kulusevski effort. They almost made their lead double in a short while with an effort by Heung-Min Son but he'd marginally stayed offside and the well-worked goal was chalked off.

Chelsea tried to get on the board but both of their goal efforts had been disallowed. At last, they equalised via a Cole Palmer penalty, while Christian Romero was dismissed for giving away the spot-kick after a reckless foul on his Argentina team-mate Enzo Fernandez.

Even though Ange Postocoglou's men continued to play with high morale, in the 55th minute, another man of Ange Postocoglou Destiny Udogie was dismissed for a second yellow.

Chelsea then proceeded to make hard efforts to break the Tottenham defence and missed a couple of good chances before they finally got a counter-attack right and went ahead in the board through Nicholas Jackson

Nine-men Tottenham had a chance to equalise lately but they caught twice more on the break in injury time with Jackson completing a first career hat-trick.

The Blues won the match by a thumping 4-1 score

Some amazing stats of the match are:

1) Ange Postecoglou had never before lost a home league game in England or Scotland- this was the first across 43 such matches in charge of Celtic and Tottenham

2) Jackson became the third Chelsea player to score a Premier League hat-trick against Tottenham, following Tore Andre Flo (December 1997) and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (March 2002)

3) of Tottenham's starting XI, only four made it to the 61st minute without being substituted or sent off - Pape Matar Sarr, Gugliomo Vicario, Yves Bissouma and Heung-Min Son

4) No Premier League player has received more red cards (four) than Christian Romero since the Argentinian star made his debut at the start of the 2021-22 season
